We finally got married! alternative wedding photographer in the west midlands
I’m an alternative wedding photographer in the West Midlands.
Laura and Chris’s wedding was such a genuinely fun day. One where I felt like a wedding guest who just happened to have a camera. When it goes like this, the job is an absolute delight.
I was absolutely relieved to be there, to be honest. The couple had booked me, an alternative wedding photographer, but they had to cancel several times because of Covid over the course of a few years and this was their FOURTH attempt!
The Red Lion at Peak Edge is absolutely stunning, like a ‘new build’ listed building, if that makes any sense. Located in the Peak District, there was absolutely no excuse for me not to get some striking shots!
Chris and his best man have been in loads of bands together and there was a strongly musical vibe to the day; an acoustic guitar for people to sign, e wedding cake had guitars on the top of it, and lots of frivolities. The best man Danny had one of the finest heads of hair I have witnessed; long and flowing, like a heroic Lord of the Rings character. Or a slightly naughty Game of Thrones villain!
The couple wanted some photos with Chris’s car, a Mazda MX5 which he lovingly restored from a rust bucket to a pristine convertible. I had a lot of fun doing these, not sure Laura appreciated the photo of her dress being used to clean the car wheels though…
I took the couple on a relaxed stroll around the grounds of the Red Lion at Peak Edge, and we got some really natural, relaxed photos.
The groom had decided that there was no better implement to cut the cake with than a massive, jewel-encrusted sword so I just went along with it. We all did.
So, in short, I laughed, danced and chatted with these lovely people all day and managed to get some awesome photos along the way. I hope you enjoy them!
